Here I am, sitting on a bean bag in the corner of what used to be Jo’s office, thinking of how I want to write this note. It’s been almost a year since I took over as CEO. Where did the time go? Time flies. A little too fast if we’re not paying attention. Tomorrow, it’ll officially be 6 years in Malaysia and incidentally, 3 years in Singapore on the same exact date! What started out as a part-time business has grown into a significant and fulfilling one.

In 2014, we started Happy Bunch to make it simple, affordable and convenient for everyone to buy flowers! Back then, flowers were just soooo expensive and everyone only bought flowers for big occasions. Can you believe our first bunches were sold at RM30 per bunch? Honestly, we were pretty naive to think we could sustain a business at that rate!
Much has changed over the years, of course. We opened a branch in Singapore in 2017. We expanded our flower designs and even introduced gift boxes due to popular demand! Thanks to all of your feedback, we made improvements to the quality of our bunches, delivery service and customer experience. If you’ve visited happybunch.com.my this week, you will notice we had a facelift – a brand new layout for a more seamless experience! We hope you’ll enjoy it as we continue to finetune it over the next few weeks. We’d also love to hear what you think about it and how else we can improve. We’ll be rolling out the new site to Singapore soon.
As a business where we strive for 100% customer satisfaction, we’re constantly evolving and growing for the better. However, one thing’s for sure, we haven’t (and will not) change why we started Happy Bunch in the first place. We still strongly believe in making it simple and affordable for anyone to send their love or well wishes to anyone, for any reason. Nothing warms our hearts more than seeing the smiles on the faces of your loved ones when they receive your gift!
Some people thought we were crazy. Some people thought we had the best idea ever! We thought the latter, of course (haha!). While we didn’t quite set out to conquer the world of gifting, we certainly disrupted it. We were pleasantly surprised when people started sending flowers for the most unheard of reasons – several have stuck in our minds from the very beginning. Some of the most memorable ones include “Sorry your goldfish died”, “Thanks mom for making me breakfast this morning”, “I know your nose is stuffed up. I hope these flowers cheer you up”, “Will you be my date tonight for game night?”. Reasons we take for granted in our hectic lives today. Real everyday moments we don’t think twice about as we hustle through the day.
That’s the very core of Happy Bunch. We want to enable anyone to express to a loved one, a friend, a colleague or even a business acquaintance how they feel, that they’re thought of, that they are appreciated, to inject positivity, to console and be compassionate, to celebrate big occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, new borns, weddings; and embrace small triumphs, or just because you want to say “Hi!”. The list is … ENDLESS.
So 6 years on in Malaysia and 3 years in Singapore, we want to say a BIG THANK YOU to you, our most valuable customers. Your unwavering support, especially throughout this pandemic, is incredible. You’ve made it possible for us to continue to pursue this journey, while spreading happiness and positivity to everyone!

As I’m trying to complete this note, an hour plus after I typed the first sentence from this bean bag, I’m looking at my whole team who are working tirelessly for this brand they love so much. And I know for a fact that, one of the driving forces, is the love they get from you. We have so much planned for you in the upcoming months and can’t wait to share it all with you!
We hope we will continue to inspire you to appreciate those everyday moments whether they are big or small. If time has passed you with a blink of an eye, we hope you’ll find some time to pause, take a deep breath and perhaps tell someone that you’re thinking of them.
